THE 10 MOST COMMON QUESTIONS
#1 WHAT FOOD DO YOU FEED
We are now feeding Chicken Soup For The Puppy Lovers Soul!
#2 WHEN CAN YOUR PAPILLONS GO TO THEIR FOREVER HOMES? and do you accept payments.
It really depends. Any where from 10 weeks to 4 Months. and we do accept payment on occasion. We are also willing to talk about puppy back/trade options if you have something that we feel will greatly improve on our blood lines.
#3 HOW MANY LITTERS DO YOU HAVE A YEAR?
We breed to improve on our lines and with carefully planned breedings to produce the next generation of quality, Healthy, Happy, Well rounded puppies who are as close to their breed standard as possible. so I cannot really answer the question with a number amount.
#4 DO PUPPIES HAVE A HEALTH CHECK AND DEW CLAWS REMOVED?
Yes, All pups will have their Dew claws removed.
A health check is done on all puppies who are needing to be shipped. If you would like a health check done on a puppy who will not be being shipped at your cost before your puppy comes home, please let me know. I have no problem taking them!
#5 ARE THE PATELLAS CHECKED ON YOUR BREEDING STOCK?
Yes they are. We have them checked Annually and every one was vet checked clear and in normal range.
#6 WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE PRICE OF OUR PUPPY?
Age appropriate shots, worming, Dew Claws removed, shot record, and a life long friend! I am ALWAYS here if you need to ask a question, or just want to talk. I love being a part of not only the puppies who I have raised lives but also the new moms and dads! I now have some very amazing life long friends made through mutual love of papillons :)
#7 ARE YOUR PUPPIES POTTY TRAINED?
IT DEPENDS ON WHAT AGE THE PUPPY IS WHEN THEY LEAVE OUR HOME. so this is a hard one to answer in a simple yes or no form. I can tell you that our puppies start using a litter box when they are 3 weeks old. When they are approx 6.5 weeks old we start to work on going potty out side like the "Big Kids" We will not start potty training before that time as they are for 1. to young to have their first vaccination and for 2. are to young to understand the concept of going potty where we want them to. We give them a big jump start on potty training but ultimately it is the responsibility of the new family to finish the work we start here at Satori.
#8 ARE PAPILLONS GOOD WITH CHILDREN?
DESPITE WHAT SOME PEOPLE MAY SAY, WE HAVE 4 CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 14 AND OUR CHILDREN AND OUR PAPILLONS ARE WONDERFUL TOGETHER. HOWEVER OUR CHILDREN HAVE BEEN RAISED AROUND OUR PAPILLONS AND HAVE BEEN TAUGHT RIGHT FROM WRONG. THERE ARE SOME CHILDREN WHO SHOULD NOT BE AROUND SMALL ANIMALS.
#9 DO YOU SHOW YOUR PAPILLONS?
YES WE DO! AS TIME AND FINANCES ALLOW. This is some thing we do as a family and we get a whole lot of enjoyment from. Spending the day with my papillons, my husband ,and our oldest son at the dog shows is a whole lot of fun for us.
When my youngest child gets a little older I will be out in the ring alot more! and when the children leave the home to start on their own life's adventures I will be throwing my self fully into the paps and showing. I have a love for my dogs that cannot be broken. I can't wait for the day to come when I can be at the shows every weekend. but for right now, I go to as many as I can and as finances allow. I also use 2 handlers who are also very good friends of mine and I trust fully with the care of my fur kids.
#10 ARE MALES OF FEMALES BETTER? PETS?
WELL CONTRARY TO WHAT SOME PEOPLE THINK, NOT ALL MALES MARK IN THE HOUSE. WE HAVE 2 THAT DO NOT MARK. MALES IN MY OPINION ARE MORE LOVING AND WANT TO BE WITH THEIR OWNERS. FEMALES ON THE OTHER HAND ARE MORE INDEPENDENT AND WANT TO DO WHAT THEY WANT TO DO. THEY ARE LOVING BUT LIKE MOST OF US WOMEN ITS ON THEIR TERMS.
#11 Why does my
papillons coat look..well not so good
Papillon pups usually blow their puppy coat at
around four months of age and have a skimpy coat until their adult coat
starts coming in. Sometimes as early as six months you'll see it
starting to come in. Until then they go through what we call (the
uglies). This is very normal and will get better..... I promise.
#12 Hypoglycemia and what to do
A puppy
with hypoglycemia will lack energy. Glucose (sugar) is the fuel the body
burns for energy; without it, the puppy is listless. In severe
instances, the puppy may even seizure, since glucose is necessary for
the brain tissue and muscles to function. These hypoglycemic episodes
will cause the puppy to fall over and appear weak or comatose.
What to do.... If a puppy is listless due to
low blood sugar, it is imperative to immediately provide heat from a
heater, heating pad or warm towel from the dryer and sugar. Nutri-Cal,
Karo syrup and honey are excellent sugar sources and should be fed to
the puppy in a fairly large dose right away. If the puppy fails to
respond to sugar after about 30 minutes then give another heavy dose of
Nutri-Cal. Nutri-Cal is what I have found to work the fastest and best.
#13 Why are my papillons ears going up and down
Its not unusual for
papillon puppies to have their ears go up and down until they are 3-4
months old. It may take that long or longer for the muscles to develop
and strengthen to where they can hold up the ear leather. Also while a
puppy is teething, you may notice that ears can go up and down. You may
have a pup who has both ears up one day, and then the next day, one is
down. A good rule of thumb is that if they have ever both been up,
they will come up and stay up after the dog finishes teething.
#14 Why does my puppy/dog eat poop.
It's natural for almost all dogs to want to
sniff poop, since the depositor's anal glands have left a kind of
advertisement, there for other dogs to "read" - and it's just as natural
(seemingly) for some dogs to want to consume these little
announcements.
Some dogs
indulge in coprophagia (or poop-eating), which is a pretty disgusting
habit . A behavior that defies logic and scientific study, and mystifies
dog trainers and veterinarians around the world. It seems to be "one of
those things" as far as dogs go.
It's a very common behavior in dogs to eat the
feces of other animals (particularly other dogs, cats, sheep, and
horses) whenever the opportunity presents itself. Some dogs derive great
satisfaction from consuming poop, where as other dogs appear to be
simply more particular by nature.
The truth is that nobody really knows why some
dogs will go out of their way when they smell a pile of poop.
#16 WHO DO I MAKE CHECKS PAYABLE TOO?
Please make ALL checks payable to:
Angie Hindman
24 N Labsch
Otis Oregon, 97368
(H) 541-994-5558
(C) 541-921-1891
All checks must be sent and cashed a full
week before a puppy will leave my home. I would rather not accept checks at all and would much rather use Pay Pal but If I do agree to a check, these are the terms. Im sorry for the inconvenience. I have had 2 bad checks over the years which has led me to not want to accept them :(
